Highgrove's own brand Champagne
19th November 2008
The Prince of Wales' 60th birthday celebrations at Highgrove saw over 100 family and friends join in with the various festivities, sip Champagne and enjoying locally produced food.
The Telegraph reported on the event at the Prince of Wales' Georgian country home that was organised by his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall.
Rod Stewart was on hand to provide the entertainment for the evening and the star, who is an ambassador for the Prince's Trust charity, did not ask for his usual £1 million-plus fee.
According to the Telegraph, friends of the couple said that the Duchess wanted to recognise the Prince's landmark birthday with a Champagne evening that "she thought her husband deserved and desired".
Guests enjoyed Highgrove's own brand Champagne that the paper said was a 1999 vintage bottled by Laurent-Perrier.
Among those who would have been offered Highgrove's Champagne were Prince Charles's sons, Princes William and Harry, and their girlfriends.
The Champagne wine region is a historic province within the Champagne administrative province in the northeast of France about 100 miles east of Paris.
