The 2009 Barbera enjoyed ideal growing conditions, being a fairly late ripening varietal it requires a long warm summer for the grapes sugars to attain balance with the grapes high levels of natural acidity. This balancing act can be tricky, but with some careful work in the vineyards and the winery we've created a style of wine that is perfect for summer drinking now but will develop nicely into a winter sipper by the time those colder months arrive.
