Reviews of Silver Bay Point Red

Very, very poor - Red Wine
Rating:   1/5

These days you can buy a nice-ish red wine for a fiver. If you want to spend less or have lower alcohol drink - have a cup of tea. This is, without doubt, the worst beverage I have ever encountered - including the time I took a mouthful from a can of Pepsi at a wedding that had been used as an ashtray. Pale, weak and insipid. No flavour. No enjoyment. No body. It's just awful. Like an over-diluted Ribena with some industrial alcohol added (but not much). It's so bad maybe you should try it - just to understand how amazing other wines are. I'm staggered that any reputable shop would sell this and allow it to be called "Red Wine".

Awful

My husband won a bottle in a raffle, and we could see why it was put in the raffle. Would rather have a nice fruit juice

Favourite Wine
Rating:   5/5

We enjoy a glass of wine or three, mainly Rioja, Merlot or Chianti, or if white then Pinot Grigio, but we prefer red in the main. We won a bottle of Silver Bay Point Red in a raffle at our local school fair, and fell in love with it from the first sip. The point of the wine is that it is not strong, which is something that the people giving it one star seem to miss. We treat it like fruit juice, and enjoy it sitting in the garden on a summer's evening, as well as any eveing inside throughout the year. We've just managed to find somewhere that sells the box, which although cheaper than the bottles, is not as good value as other standard wines.

It's a con!!!
Rating:   1/5

Bought in a hurry, this product should not even be on a wine shelf, are Tesco really that desperate to make a profit, this substance should be on sale in " TOILET products.

Dreadful
Rating:   1/5

Bought two bottles of this 'wine'. Without doubt the worst concoction purporting to be wine that I have ever tasted.Truly dreadful! Took one bottle back and remainder of other for a refund. Undrinkable muck.

Criminal
Rating:   1/5

Bought two bottles today at tesco for £5. I thought it was a serious promotion for a low alcohol wine. It is pink not red and ribena has more body. Tesco have lost the plot. Beef not beef. Wine not wine. What next? DO NOT BUY!

Hardly Wine!!!
Rating:   1/5

This tastes like weak blackcurrant squash which happens to have an alcohol content. My wife and daughter had a taste and would not have anymore. After one glass I could not drink anymore. The rest is going down the sink. You could not even use this for cooking. Truly dreadful wine.

dreadful
Rating:   1/5

I bought it for the lower alcohol content, but from the moment I saw the colour of this "red wine" I feared the worst. But it was even worse than that! Dreadful. Not a wine at all. Buy anything else - Lambrusco, Hock etc. are low alcohol and far better than this abomination. This is just awful...

cheap

good party/bbq wine
Rating:   4/5

i justbought this red wine to accompany a dinner. This is not a heavy full bodied red as it may look. its a very light drinkable plonk! would suit a nice salad, bbq ,or just a cheap light low alchohol drink to be enjoyed with friends. but it has a nice clean fruity taste! very fruity!

A Great Beginners Wine
Rating:   4/5

As someone who does not drink wine very often I alway face every glass offered with trepidation. This wine was a pleasant surprise. Light and fruity not overly alchoholic and no bitter after taste that often follows from those "Better Wines" A great wine to start your wine drinking journey.

Is this really wine ??
Rating:   1/5

Thin, medicinal with a bitter aftertaste, this is one of the worst wines I have tasted. In fact I don't think that it should be called wine at all. It is an alcoholic beverage made from grape juice which could be served up to people who have already had too much to drink, in the hope that the low alcohol content and awful taste will not be noticed.

Party drink
Rating:   5/5

I selected this wine a, because it was red b, a reasonable alcohol (8%) and c, it was on offer at 2 for £5. I found that it was soft and very pleasant and an ideal party type wine. Anyone who bought at this price expecting a high quality wine is an idiot. I give it 5*

Awful, pls stay away!
Rating:   1/5

I appreciate the reasoning of people who give this wine 5 stars based in health blah... I got the red and rosé bottle from a party guest and couldn't take a second sip. Pity cos I'll have to throw these away as can't even give it to a friend. The honest truth is that the label is deceptive. The taste is awful & far from any wine taste (mind you I'm not a wine snob!). This is a freebie but I need to warn people out there not to waste their money on this drink please.

DO NOT BUY
Rating:   1/5

This is without a doubt the worst wine I have tasted. It should not be called wine, it is disgusting.

a good choice
Rating:   5/5

I read the range of reviews with interest. The 'point' of this wine is surely that it is low in alcohol while remaining very tasty and having a good, deep colour. At a time when alcohol-induced liver injury and obesity and oral cancers and alcohol-related anti-social behaviour(etc, etc) are increasing, and where other wines are increasing and increasing in alcohol content, silver bay is an excellent choice for those with their longer-term health in mind.

Pretty awful
Rating:   2/5

The wine was of course 25% cheaper than the average in the national supermarket but 100% worse than the cheapest I have ever tasted, what were the buyers thinking of?! In my view undrinkable but in fairness I could have got an off bottle. I believe the labelling to be misleading, the bottle states 'British wine' nowhere does it say 'made from imported grapejuice'. Maybe within EU labelling rules but i would have avoided it had I of known.PS i am not associated with the producer of the product.

Beautiful and fresh
Rating:   5/5

Not for wine snobs, but this is lovely to drink in the summer. Very cheap, to buy but worth so much more! Low in alcohol but personally I prefer that. Very fresh, very fragrant. Beautiful.

Do Not Buy!
Rating:   1/5

Made the mistake of buying this "wine" never again.I accept it is low alchohol but this stuffis truly awful it tastes like water with a dasha of win to give it colour.

Silver Bay Point Red Wine
Rating:   1/5

We bought this on a 2 for £5 offer, thinking we'd be trying a British wine. The price of course is the giveaway; you get what you pay for. Still,we were looking forward to it but were seriously disappointed. It is more like a lightly alcoholic fruit drink than a serious wine. Then we discovered it is 8% and made from imported grape juice. It is truly awful. I doubt if it can even be used for cooking. My advice- DON'T BUY IT.
