Why rosé?

From Spanish rosado to delicate Pinot Grigio blush, there is a fantastic selection of pink wines to discover at Waitrose Cellar, including English gems and classic styles from Provence and Italy. In the vast majority of cases, rosé wine isn't made by blending red and white wines together. It's usually produced from red grapes which are crushed and then carefully removed from the juice. As it's the grape skins that add colour, the quicker the juice is drained off, the lighter the rosé wine will be.

Rosé wines often make delicious apéritifs although many styles are surprisingly versatile with food. For example, light rosés are fabulous with delicate dishes such as sushi or a salade Niçoise, while fuller-flavoured pinks are fantastic with lightly spicy curry dishes, duck or tuna.
