Dhruv Baker

Dhruv Baker, winner of BBC One’s MasterChef 2010, was born in Mexico where he lived with his parents until he was four, and then moved to India where he first discovered his passion for food. It was only after leaving university that he was able to really explore food and cooking, and develop his interest and passion in not only food but also wine.

Dhruv loves all aspects of cooking but has become increasingly interested in spices and using them in ways other than one would expect. Since winning MasterChef he has worked at Le Gavroche, De Librije in Holland, Benares, The Kitchin and Helene Darroze at the Connaught.

He has written his first book, SPICE, which is being published by Orion Publishing and will be released in July 2012. He has set up his own private catering and events company called Earlsfield Kitchen. Dhruv is a presenter for Waitrose TV and is a contributor for Waitrose Kitchen and Waitrose Weekend as well as other food magazines and works as a brand consultant for a number of food brands. Dhruv is a regular at the BBC Good Food shows across the UK.

Decanter German Dry White over £15 Regional Trophy 2013 Gruner Veltliner is a favourite of mine, and very fashionable right now. This one’s from its home country, Austria, and it has just the right amount of…
