Oxford Landing Wine

The Oxford Landing wine estate was created in 1958 by Wyndham Hill Smith, great-grandson of Samuel Smith who established the famous Yalumba brand in 1849. Wyndham decided to set up a vineyard near the Murray River, in South Australia, where he knew that the fertile soil and sunshine would give ideal conditions to grow vines. The place was called Oxford Landing after a commercial paddle steamer called 'The City of Oxford' caught fire and sank there in the 1800s.
