Highest seen is the most expensive we have seen Cabalie all year.
One of Laithwaites’ customers favourite, this wine received many excellent reviews as well as a few awards attesting for its high quality. It is produced by the amazing winemaker Hervé Sabardeil in a 2,000 old vineyard situated in the south of France along the Cotes Catalanes.
Cabalié Tasting Notes
A Grenache-based blend, this wine is very powerful and as rich and sweet as fortified wine. The reason? It is made with some of the oldest Grenache vines in France giving the wine intense red berry aromas. You can pair it with a slow cooked beef casserole or simply drink it on its own.

Unbelievably velvety. Superb!
I have only had a small taste. It is smooth and divine and I would like more, hence looking for merchants who sell it and here I am on wines direct!
Bought this after a friend age. Me a bottle as a gift. It is wonderful. So smooth but with substance. Fruity flavour with depth. Pity it only seems to be available form one supplier.
by J. Gilbert,
Its a wonderful wine, so easy to drink. Easily my favorite, and not too expensive.
Found this review and have to say that totally disagree. It's obviously a personal choice but so far to say that we now drink this pretty much exclusively and prefer it to our previous Italian Amarone.. and it's half the price.
My husband and I received a bottle of this as a gift for Christmas. It isn't very often we dont eventually finish a bottle of wine, but with this, neither of us could finish a glass let alone a bottle. It was very strong to the point it was overpowering. You lost the flavours of the grape and instead I can only say it was like drinking vinegar. It even smelt vinegary leading us to think it had gone off. A friend visited us later in the day who drinks this and said that is what it smells and tastes like and even said it was his favourite wine. My conclusion is that this wine is a required taste but both my husband and I personally thought it was one of the worst wines we had ever drank.
